CUSTOM FOOT ORTHOTICS

WHAT ARE THEY?

Custom made foot orthotics are inserts made to fit in your shoes. They differ from over-the-counter insoles, ex: Dr. Scholl's, since they are a prescribed medical device fitted by a medical professional for specific biomechanical conditions. Orthotics are used to support, align, prevent or correct deformity, or to modify position or motion of your feet. They can help with foot, knee, hip or back pain.

WHAT DO THEY DO?

Orthotics are used to support, align, prevent or correct deformity, or to modify position or motion of your feet. Orthotics are commonly prescribed for flat feet, high arches, heel/arch pain, bunions, achilles pain, ball of foot pain, arthritis, in-toeing and heel walking in children, and knee and hip pain.

HOW DO I GET A PRESCRIPTION?

Orthotics are prescribed after taking a full medical history, assessing the structure and movement of joints in your feet and analyzing the way you walk (gait analysis). They are best prescribed by a foot specialist like a chiropodist or podiatrist.

HOW ARE THEY MADE?

Orthotics are made using a custom 3D mold/cast of your feet by a foot specialist. They are manufactured in a lab using a CAD/CAM system and by hand.

DOES MY INSURANCE COVER THEM?

Most private insurance plans cover orthotics if prescribed and dispensed by a chiropodist.
